BRIGHTON, Ont. – June 17, 2016 – The Brighton Speedway Kart Klub presented by Kiwanis of Trenton resumed action for race number four of the 2016 season on Thursday night. The action on the infield karting oval attracted 32 karts for an exciting nigh of racing.
Anderson Completes Hat-Trick
Kyle Anderson completed his first hat-trick of the season when he won his third-straight Junior Restricted division feature on Thursday night. The oldest and fastest division at the Klub produced an exciting 15-lap feature. Polesitter Jacob Perry led the opening pair of turns before Nathan Rinaldi claimed the point to lead the first circuit. Anderson meanwhile drove to second and turned underneath Rinaldi off turn two and claimed the lead on the second lap. That was all he needed as he cruised to the victory over the final 13 laps, winning by five lengths over Rinaldi’s No.3.
Junior Restricted Results (15 Laps): 1. 17 Kyle Anderson, 2. 3 Nathan Rinaldi, 3. 23 Cole Perry, 4. 77 Anthony Rinaldi.
Leclair Becomes Fourth Different Winner
Chandler Leclair used his pole starting spot to his advantage and led all 15 laps of the Junior Sportsman 2 feature to earn his first win of the season. Leclair became the fourth different winner in as many races for that division in 2016. A furious battle saw all five drivers running nose-to-tail for the duration of the race. In the end neither Holly Denard nor second-place finisher Cole McKeown could solve Leclair No.48 as he drove to the checkered flag.
Junior Sportsman 2 Results (15 Laps): 1. 48 Chandler Leclair, 2. 11 Cole McKeown, 3. 23 Cole Perry, 4. 17e Emily Peterson, 5. 02 Holly Denard.
Down Strikes Again
Carson Down withstood a hurricane-like challenge from James Markland in Junior Sportsman 1 action to earn his second win of the season and first since opening night. Keira Turner started on the pole for the 15-lap race, but surrendered the lead when she hit the tire wall exiting turn four on lap four. On the restart, Markland and Down tangled in turn two, keeping the field under yellow. One final restart on lap 14 produced a one-lap dash which Down led to score the victory over Markland and Cameron Bristow.
Junior Sportsman 1 Results (15 Laps): 1. 55 Carson Down, 2. 21 James Markland, 3. 99 Cameron Bristow, 4. 92 Keira Turner.
Terpstra Scores Second Win
Emma Terpstra started outside the front row and looked like she had rockets attached to her No.22 kart as she exploded to the lead on the first lap. Once Terpstra got out front, she wasn’t going to be stopped despite the best efforts of second-place runner Carson Lemanis and third-place finisher Nathan Shorts. At the checkered flag, Terpstra’s lead was a full straightaway on her way to the victory.
Rookie 2 Results (10 Laps): 1. 22 Emma Terpstra, 2. C1 Carson Lemanis, 3. 20 Nathan Shorts, 4. 76 Ashton Leclair, 5. 83 Koen O’Hara.
James Rolls To Victory
Jace James rolled to his second win in a row in the Rookie 1 division on Thursday night. After starting from third, the Kingston youngster drove past Carson McKee and held off a late challenge from Ryan Greig to earn the victory. Lexi Lucas and Brooklyn Bowers battled for third with Lucas earning the position. McKee completed the top-five.

Cooper Slides To Victory Lane
In his second start in the Box Stock 2 division, Tyson Cooper slid to victory lane in his No.87jr kart. It was a furious race full of action with polesitter Max McDononald leading early on while Cooper battled three-wide for second with Trevyn McCrillis and Cooper McKeown. In the dying laps, McDonald and Jacob Down were side-by-side for the lead, but a caution prior to the checkered flag set-up a one lap checkered flag chase. On the restart, Cooper pulled to the bottom lane and led the field in to turn one. He held off his attackers on the final two corners to claim his first win in the Box Stock 2 division.
Box Stock 2 Results (10 Laps): 1. 87jr Tyson Cooper, 2. 57 Jacob Down, 3. 9 Cooper McKeown, 4. 71 Trevyn McCrillis, 5. 22 Max McDonald.
Lockridge Claims Second Straight
Colton Lockridge had to drive past two strong karts, but he did just that as he won his second straight Box Stock 1 feature race. Rookie driver Callie Bristow gave him a challenge and briefly took the lead with three laps to go before Lockridge stormed back to take the win.
Box Stock 1 Results (10 Laps): 1. 5c Colton Lockridge, 2. 20 Callie Bristow, 3. 1 Coleson Gregory, 4. 89 Colby Ellis.
