BRIGHTON, Ont. – June 21, 2016 – Brighton Speedway is set to host another major event this Saturday night when the Go Nuclear Late Model Series invades the track for the first-ever School’s Out Shootout. The 50-lap, $1500-to-win for the travelling Crate Late Model Series will bring some of the best Late Model talent in the Northeast to challenge Brighton Speedway regulars on their home turf.
The Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4s and Quinte Septic Stingers are also in action as part of the event presented by Campbellford Chrysler, JJ Stewart Motors and Deerhaven Farm and Garden.
Adult admission for the event is $15, Youths and Seniors are $13 and a Family Pass is $40. Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm on Saturday night before hot laps and time trials on 6:00pm. Race time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
The Go Nuclear Late Model Series enters Saturday’s race at Brighton having completed just one of two scheduled events so far this season. John Waters of Whitesville, NY won the series’ opening race at Utica-Rome Speedway on April 24. Race 2 was rained out at Utica-Rome on May 22. As a result, drivers on both sides of the border are eager to return to tour action this weekend at Brighton. Fifty laps will be their second longest event of the season.
In Canadian Modified action, Andrew Hennessy extended his point lead to 60 over Dan Ferguson following the former’s third win of the season last Saturday night. Kraig Hendley, Derrick Greig and Curtis King complete the top-five in the standings.
Justin Ramsay echoed Hennessy’s results, growing his Pro Stock point lead to 195 over both Doug Anderson and Brandon Murrell after his third win of the season. Picton’s Wade Purchase sits fourth and rookie Austin Reid completes the top-five.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4s also return to action on the heels of Josh French’s first career win. Tyler French leads the championship standings on the strength of four wins and seven top-5s in as many starts. Adam Flieler sits second, 10 points ahead of Josh Read. Port Hope’s Matthew Moore sits fourth and Belleville native Peter Moore occupies the fifth position.
After a week off, the Quinte Septic Stingers return to action this week. Brittany Golden leads Willy Bulten and her cousin Chantel Golden in the Junior Stinger standings. Chris Lammle leads the Super Stinger standings following two straight wins. Rick Phillips and Jorden Pickell sit second and third, respectively.
