The first practice for the Kohler Grand Prix at Road America saw six Hondas and four Chevrolets in the top-10.
The fastest time went to Simon Pagenaud, driver of the No. 22 Menards Chevrolet with a time of 1:43.4804. In second was Carlos Munoz, driver of the No. 26 Andretti Autosport Honda, with a 1:43.5560. Third was Jack Hawksworth, driver of the No. 41 ABC Supply Honda with a 1:43.6747.
Rounding out the top-five were Chip Ganassi Racing teammates, Tony Kanaan, driver of the No. 10 NTT Data Chevrolet and Scott Dixon, driver of the No. 9 Clorox Chevrolet.
Sixth through tenth were as follows: Marco Andretti, Alexander Rossi, James Hinchcliffe, Graham Rahal and Josef Newgarden.
There were no cautions during the session. It is well to note at the start of the session Rahal was having an electronic issue and missed a good part of the session.
