Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet, will have a special pain scheme this weekend when he takes to famous track of Daytona International Speedway.
The scheme was designed by Noelia Gutierrez, an 8-year-old cancer patient at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The girl designed the Strong Against Cancer theme for the contest Great Clips and Strong Against Cancer held to celebrate the creative spirit of the children at the Seattle hospital to give them something fun and cheerful to do.
They encouraged the children who wished to participate to be creative and to express themselves while designing their very own version of the No. 5 Chevy for the DIS race. After the contest ended, Kahne personally handpicked four finalists in which Gutierrez’s design won.
“When Noelia found out she won we were at Seattle Children’s,” Noelia’s mother, Emilia Gutierrez, told Seattle Children’s Hospital. “She was screaming and jumping, but she was also trying not to be too loud since we were in the hospital. She was so excited! We couldn’t believe it.”
The little girl stated that her design included some of the many things she loves like music, jaguars and the Seattle skyline. She is hoping her favorite things will help Kahne focus and find his way in Victory Lane.
