Following three with action from top to bottom, the OSCAAR Modified drivers are set to head to Sauble Speedway for their fourth race of the year. With a mix of young and old filling up the roster, it’ll be interesting to see who claims bragging rights.
Gary Elliott hopes this weekend is the magic ticket to his first OSCAAR career feature victory after posting two top-10s to start the season. He’s done well at Sauble in the past, posting a pair of top-five finishes, including a runner-up in 2014.
Thunder car veteran Luke Gignac joined the modified ranks this season after partnering up with ADAMS Motorsports to drive their No. 99 entry this season. So far, he’s off to a solid start with finishes in the top-seven in each of the first three races.
A.J. Emms looks to build on his success he’s had early this season as he’s started off the year with two top-fives in the first three races. The sophomore driver was solid at Sauble last season, finishing eighth.
Dan Price hopes this weekend’s trip to Sauble goes smooth, hopefully resulting in his third top-10 finish of the season.
Brian McLean will be one of the veterans in the field hoping to pick up a victory following a runner-up finish at Flamboro Speedway. In four previous Sauble Speedway starts, he has posted three top-10 finishes.
Another veteran? John Harper, whom could use a good run after three finishes outside of the top-10 to start the 2016 season. Sauble hasn’t been his best track in the past with only one prior top-10 finish.
Rick Schurr has joined the OSCAAR Modified division following success in the Canadian Vintage Modified ranks. Splitting the schedule with Roger Spies, he’s looking to have a fun year. So far this year he has finished in the top-11 in each of the events.
The driver to watch this year could be Cory Horner as he has continued to impress, clawing closer to his first career victory. He’s started off this year with a fourth at Flamboro Speedway and an eighth at Delaware, though ended up 13th at Flamboro. Notably, he finished seventh last year at Sauble.
Gary McLean enters this weekend on a roll, coming off of a win at Flamboro Speedway. The defending four-time series champion that will carry into positive momentum at Sauble Speedway, where he has two podiums to go with two finishes outside of the top-10.
Monty Kelly hopes to keep his string of top-10s going following a sixth place finish at Delaware and a 10th at Flamboro. In his previous two Sauble Speedway starts, he’s had success with a pair of top-10 finishes, including a third place finish in 2012.
After winning the season opener at Flamboro, George Wilson will be back behind the wheel of Mike Hearty’s modified this past weekend.
Chris Milwain and Shane Stickel each made their 2016 debuts at Flamboro, both posting top-10 finishes with Milwain third. Both drivers were constant top-five runners in the past, with Stickel making a trip to victory lane at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. If they both continue to follow the tour, look for them to post up another pair of solid runs.
Along with the OSCAAR Modifieds at Flamboro Speedway this weekend will be the OSCAAR Midgets.
