James Hinchcliffe, driver of the No. 5 Arrow Electronics Honda, has had a pretty decent season upon his return to the IndyCar Series after a crash for practice for the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last year. The Canadian driver has had four top-10’s this season and was the pole sitter for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
After missing the Iowa Corn 300 last year because of his injury the Oakville, Ontario native is looking forward to returning to Iowa Speedway a track where he has had success at. The 2011 Rookie of the Year first started racing at the track in 2009 when he was in the Indy Lights Series and he was on the podium for both starts at Iowa. Hinch then moved to the IndyCar Series in 2011 where he raced at the track four times, picking up three top-10’s and a win driving for Andretti Autosport in 2013.
“Iowa Speedway obviously has some great memories for me (winning there in 2013),” Hinchcliffe quoted. “It’s a fun little track and one of the toughest races we do all year. Not just physically, but also because you are always racing someone. There are two great lanes that make for some awesome wheel-to-wheel action. I’m actually sad that it’s not a night race this year, but I’m still looking forward to getting back there after missing last year.”
