For the second straight year, Rick Spencer-Walt was sitting in victory lane at the end of the Chase for the Colours as he picked up the victory once again.
It’ll mark the second straight year the Walt Motorsports driver will lead the field to the green flag at the Autumn Colours Classic in October.
“Winning the Chase two years in a row sets us up really good for the Colours,” Spencer-Walt said. “We will have our Limited Late Model and our APC car there for that. So it gives us a little more time to focus on making the Pro Late Model drive good.”
Spencer-Walt turned a pole at last year’s Classic into a solid fourth place finish.
“The key this year to staying up front will not be getting a flat tire 10 laps in like last year,” he said. “If we hit our marks and do everything right, hopefully this will be our year.”
After picking up a couple feature wins last season, the team entered this year confident they’d be successful. So far, everything has gone to plan as in six races this season (six at Peterborough, two at Sunset), Spencer-Walt has now posted three wins and six top-five finishes.
“Our early season success has made our team better,” he commented. “We wanna win every time we hit the track and the work on the car through the week never stops. The team wants to win just as much as I do and that’s a pretty good feeling.”
Walt Motorsports is proud to be supported by Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Eisses pumpmytank.ca, Hotc, Auto Trim Design Barrie and Baker Performance Parts.
