On July 20, NASCAR issued a P-3 grade penalty to the Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 Toyota team, driven by Matt Kenseth. The penalties come after the team won the race this past weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The team was docked 15 championship points in the team owner standings as well as a 15 points taken from Kenneth’s drivers’ standings due to infractions found during the post-race laser inspection. Along with the docked points, Jason Ratcliff the team’s crew chief was also issued a $25,000 fine.
The No. 20 Toyota was also sent to the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina for further evaluation.
