It was a close battle back and forth, but it’d be Jordan Howse picking up the win in the St. Onge Recreational Super Stock feature at Sunset Speedway.
The night didn’t start off smoothly as Troy Jones found trouble during the first heat. Treyten Lapcevich picked up the win ahead of Ryan Semple, Jordan Howse, Mike Weeda, Stan Coe, Kendra Adams, John Latimer and Ric Watson.
The second heat saw problems for Frank Davey as he pulled off before the checkered flag. Brandon McFerran won the heat ahead of Jade Franklin, Marty Monette, Nic Troback, Coltin Everingham, Dustyn Mombourquette, Justin Holmes, Anthony DiBello and Ethan Constable.
Matt Bentley won the final heat ahead of Dan Archibal, Herb Walters, Dennis Cybalski, Miles Tyson, Stefan Semeraro, Paul Allard and Nick Tooley.
Mcferran went for the daily double in the fast qualifier’s dash ahead of Lapcevich, Semple, Bentley, Franklin, Archibald, Howse, Watson, Monette, Weeda, Troback and Cybalski.
The b-main saw Brandon Passer pull off before the green flag with a mechanical issue. The troubles continued into the racing action as on the opening lap, Allard and Watson got together, resulting in Watson spinning, with Constable making contact which ripped the nose off Watson’s car. Then on the restart, Troy Jones had a problem on the backstretch. The issues continued with Latimer and Semeraro getting together on Lap 2.
Stan Coe picked up the win ahead of Tyson, Everingham, Holmes, Morrison, Weeda, Adams, Davey, Semeraro, DiBello, Tooley, Allard and Constable.
Come feature time, the trouble started right away with Monette getting spun on the opening lap by Coe.
For the restart, it’d be Matt Bentley starting pole ahead of Jordan Howse, Dennis Cybalski, Mike Weeda, Treyten Lapcevich, Johnny Morrison, Herb Walters, Nic Troback, Jade Franklin, Coltin Everingham, Ryan Semple, Dustyn Mombourqutte, Dan Archibald, Miles Tyson, Brandon McFerran, Kendra Adams, Anthony DiBello, Justin Holmes, Frank Davey, Stefan Semeraro, Nick Tooley, Ethan Constable, Paul Allard, John Latimer, Marty Monette and Stan Coe.
The restart saw a battle for the lead between Bentley and Howse while Cybalski ran thrd as Lapcevich and Weeda battled for fourth. There’d be contact with Bentley and Howse, resulting in Howse having an impressive save as the caution flew for Adams spinning in turn two.
The battle for the lead continued on the restart while Cybalski battled Lapcevich for the third spot ahead of Troback, Bentley and Franklin. The caution then flew once again, though, for debris in turn two. Under caution, Constable made his way down pit road, done for the evening. With 22 laps to go, Howse led Bentley, Lapcevich, Cybalski, Troback, Semple, Franklin, Walters, Weeda, Archibald, McFerran, Morrison and Tyson.
Another restart, another battle for the lead with Howse being able to put the No. 8 MACMASTER BUICK GMC OF ORANGEVILLE, STEWART’S EQUIPMENT, KUBOTA, GLENN WINDREM TRUCKING, PAUL HOWSE AND ASSOCIATES, FOODLAND OF HILLSBURGH, JOHN TEUNE ENGINES, FIERCEWRAPS.CA, DUTCHBOY CARPET CLEANING, SPECIALIZED WELDING, LARUE’S HAULAGE AND GEORGIA BECK BROOMS Super Stock out front on Lap 10 ahead of Bentley.
Lapcevich ran third ahead of Cybalski and Semple as Walters and Troback battled for sixth, while Franklin and Archibald battled for eighth. Archibald got by Franklin, taking Walters and Troback three-wide at Lap 13. In the skirmish, Franklin came out on top in the sixth spot ahead of Archibald on Lap 14.
Troback continued to drop back with McFerran moving into eighth at Lap 16 ahead of Walters, Morrison, Tyson and Troback. Holmes was then able to get by Troback at Lap 17 to move into 12th. Tyson then got alongside Morrison for 10th a lap later, but the caution flew for debris on the backstretch.
The restart saw a short-lived battle for the lead, with Howse taking the top spot solely on Lap 20 ahead of Bentley as Lapcevich and Semple battled for third. Semple took the spot on Lap 21 ahead of Lapcevich, as Franklin rounded out the top-five.
Behind him, McFerran moved into sixth at Lap 23 ahead of Cybalski as Morrison and Walters battled for eighth. Walters got the spot on Lap 24, with Tyson and Holmes following him through two laps later. Holmes then got alongside Tyson for ninth with three laps to go ahead of Morrison and Weeda.
The top-two remained close through the entire race, with Bentley making slight contact with Howse on the final lap. It wasn’t enough, though, as Jordan Howse picked up the win ahead of Matt Bentley, Ryan Semple, Treyten Lapcevich, Jade Franklin, Dan Archibald, Brandon McFerran, Dennis Cybalski, Walters and Holmes.
Miles Tyson finished 11th, followed by Johnny Morrison, Mike Weeda, Stan Coe, Nic Troback, Anthony DiBello, Stefan Semeraro, Nick Tooley, Frank Davey and Coltin Everingham.
Kendra Adams finished 21st ahead of Paul Allard, John Latimer, Marty Monette, Dustyn Mombourquette and Ethan Constable.
