Andrew Ranger has won the pole for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series’ only mid-week race of the year at Wyant Group Raceway. Ranger, the series point leader, earned pole with a fast lap of 14.657 seconds around the 3/8-mile Saskatoon short-track.
Ranger was closely followed by Canada’s Best Racing Team driver Joey McColm with a lap of 14.795 seconds. McColm’s second-place qualifying effort earns him his best career starting spot in only his third start this season.
Rounding out the top-five drivers in qualifying were three-time 2016 race winner Alex Tagliani, D.J. Kennington and Alex Labbe.
Mark Dilley will start sixth followed by Alberta’s Kelly Admiraal, Jason Hathaway, Cayden Lapcevich and Gary Klutt.
Last weekend’s second-place finisher at Edmonton Intenational Raceway, L.P. Dumoulin will start 11th followed by Kevin Lacroix, Nick Jewell, Noel Dowler, Jamie Kryzsik, Kevin Poitras, Ian Admiraal, Jason Hankewich and Shania LaForce. LaForce, making her first start since 2014, didn’t set a time in qualifying, but is still expected to race.
The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 from Wyant Group Raceway is set to go green at 9:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
