Matt Bentley took his winning ways this season on the road, picking up the win at Sauble Speedway on Sunday in the Saugeen Shores Transmission Thunder Car Invitational.
Treyten Lapcevich won the first heat ahead of Brandon McFerran, Hudson Nagy, Jade Franklin, Ken Grubb, Jake Zevenbergen, the 16, the 47 and Dan Archibald. Notably, Archibald got spun with two laps to go by Grubb while the No. 3 pulled off on Lap 2.
The second heat featured some trouble as well, as Glenn Schurr spun Kenny McNicol Jr., with the 13 spinning behind them. The wreck would also collect the 7, Johnny Morrison and Coltin Everingham in the process. Schurr then pulled on the second lap of the race while Joe Adams picked up the win ahead of Kenny McNicol Jr., the 7, the 68, Johnny Morrison, Coltin Everingham, Corey Adams and the 13.
The third heat also featured a quick caution as the 11 spun in turn two. Matt Bentley picked up the win ahead of Steve Ecker, Tyler Liscum, the 01, Brad Collison, Nic Troback, Jaymee Adams, the 11 and Jerry Broom.
Treyten Lapcevich went for the daily double, winning the 5-lap Dash for the Pole Award followed by Matt Bentley and Joe Adams.
Come feature time, Joe Adams started pole ahead of Treyten Lapcevich, Matt Bentley, Brandon McFerran, Kenny McNicol Jr., Steve Ecker, Hudson Nagy, the 7, Tyler Liscum, Jade Franklin, the 68, the 01, Ken Grubb, Johnny Morrison, Brad Collison, Jake Zevenbergen, Coltin Everingham, Nic Troback, the 16, Corey Adams, Jaymee Adams, the 47, the 13, Dan Archibald, Glenn Schurr and Jerry Broom.
Joe Adams took the early lead ahead of Bentley and Lapcevich as McFerran ran fourth ahead of McNicol and Nagy. Bentley wasted no time, tagging the back of Adams on Lap 3, before putting the No. 21 No. 21 GL Manufacturing, ThringCo., Streamline Race Products, Creative Edge and Bentley Motorsports Super Stock out front on Lap 4.
Lapcevich then got alongside Adams for second a lap later, completing the pass on Lap 5. McFerran looked to follow Lapcevich through, but the caution flew for Corey Adams spun on the frontstretch following contact with Jaymee Adams. Meanwhile, Ecker pulled off the track with an issue. With 46 laps to go, Bentley led Lapcevich, Adams, McFerran, McNicol, Nagy, Liscum, the 7, Jade Franklin, the 68, Ken Grubb, the 01, Zevenbergen and Morrison.
Bentley got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Adams and Lapcevich, with McNicol moving into fourth ahead of McFerran, Nagy and Liscum as the 68 and 7 battled for eighth. The 7 got the spot on Lap 9 ahead of the 68, with Grubb running 10th ahead of Jade Franklin, the 01, Zevenbergen, Troback, the 18 and the 16. Franklin’s strong run came to an end at Lap 11, as he slowed with a broken rear gear, bringing out the caution two laps later as he stopped in turns one and two.
Bentley got a good restart to keep the lead as McNicol got alongside Adams for second ahead of Lapcevich, McFerran, Liscum. The caution then flew again, though, for Archibald stopped on the backstretch after being spun by Jaymee Adams.
Bentley got another good restart as McNicol and Joe Adams continued to battle for second while Lapcevich climbed the frontstretch wall a little. The teenager kept going, though fell back to fifth as McFerran passed him. McNicol was able to clear Adams for second at Lap 17, with McFerran following him through a lap later. Meanwhile, Liscum got alongside Lapcevich for fifth, and contact happened which resulted in Liscum going around in turn four for the fourth caution at Lap 19.
Bentley got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of McNicol, McFerran, Adams and Liscum as Lapcevich and Nagy battled for sixth. Nagy got the spot on Lap 21, bringing the 7 and Grubb through with him. Lapcevich now ran ninth ahead of Zevenbergen, the 68 and Morrison as the 47 and 01 battled side-by-side for 13th. Behind them, Troback ran 15th ahead of Archibald.
Just past the halfway mark of the 50-lap feature, Bentley continued to lead as McFerran got alongside McNicol for second, completing the pass at Lap 28. Meanwhile, Schurr spun Archibald on the backstretch, resulting in the fifth caution at Lap 29.
Bentley got another good restart as he led now ahead of McFerran while McNicol and Adams battled for third ahead of Liscum, the 7 and Nagy. Archibald’s rough night continued as he’d be spun on the backstretch once again, this time by Corey Adams. Meanwhile, Lapcevich continued to run eighth ahead of Grubb and Zevenbergen.
Adams was then able to clear McNicol for third at Lap 32, while Liscum rounded out the top-five. The 7 ran sixth ahead of Nagy, Lapcevich, Grubb and Zevenbergen. Lapcevich was then able to get by Nagy for seventh at Lap 35, with Grubb looking to follow him through. Grubb ran side-by-side with Nagy all the way till the sixth caution flew at Lap 38 for Corey Adams spinning in turn four.
Bentley got another good restart ahead of the field, keeping the advantage ahead of McFerran, Joe Adams and McNicol as Liscum and the 7 battled for fifth. Liscum got the spot on Lap 39, bringing Lapcevich through with him as Grubb headed pit side with a problem. The 7 now ran seventh ahead of Zevenbergen, Nagy and the 47 as the caution flew for seventh time as the 01 spun in turn four.
The first attempt at a restart saw the eighth caution as Archibald spun the 01. Following the incident, Archibald was sent pit side, disqualified for the remainder of the event.
The second attempt at a restart went cleanly with Bentley leading ahead of McFerran, Adams, McNicol and Liscum as the 7 and Lapcevich battled for sixth. The 7 got the spot on Lap 41 ahead of Lapcevich, Zevenbergen, Nagy, Schurr, Troback and the 18 as the 68 and 47 battled for 13th.
Matt Bentley then led the final six laps en route to scoring the victory ahead of Brandon McFerran, Joe Adams, Kenny McNicol Jr., Tyler Liscum, Cayden Lapcevich, the 7, Jake Zevenbergen, Glenn Schurr, Hudson Nagy, Nic Troback, the 18, the 68, the 01, the 43, Jerry Broom and the 13.
