Between late race controversy and post-race technical inspection, the winner of the race took some time to decide. In the end, it was Ray Flynn picking up the win.
The day didn’t start off pretty with the 66 spinning Flynn in the heat. Meanwhile, Travis Farrow pulled off on the restart. Kyle Neumeister picked up the win ahead of Andrea Parsons, Flynn, the 66, the 85 and Noah Woodland.
Phil Givens won the second heat ahead of Kevin Gallant, John Van Dyk, the 11 and Crystal Willcocks.
Come feature time, it’d be the John Van Dyk starting pole ahead of Flynn, Kevin Gallant, Andrea Parsons, Phil Givens, Kyle Neumeister, the 66, the 11, the 85, Crystal Willcocks, Noah Woodland and Travis Farrow.
The first lap resulted in a caution as Flynn and Parsons wrecked in turn four. The second attempt to start the race went cleanly with Kevin Gallant taking the early lead ahead of Van Dyk, as Givens and Neumeister battled for third. Givens got the spot, getting alongside the Van Dyk for second. Givens took the spot on Lap 3, with Neumeister following him through for third.
Van Dyk now ran fourth ahead of the 11 as the 66 and Farrow battled for sixth. Farrow got the spot on Lap 6 ahead of the 66 and Flynn. Farrow then got alongside the 11 for fifth, taking the spot on Lap 8. The second caution then flew on Lap 9 for Parsons having a flat tire. Van Dyk would head into the pits under the caution.
Kevin Gallant got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Givens, Neumeister, Farrow and Flynn as the 66 and 11 battled for sixth. There would be contact, though, resulting in the third caution as the 11 went around.
The first attempt at a restart saw Willcocks spin in turn one.
The second attempt at a restart went cleanly with Gallant and Givens battling for the lead. Gallant took the lead at Lap 11 ahead of Givens, Neumeister, Flynn, the 66, Farrow, the 85, Van Dyk and the 11. Van Dyk continued his climb back through the field, passing the 85 for seventh at Lap 14. The racing was close all around the track, which included contact as Van Dyk tagged Farrow, as Farrow tagged the 66 with four laps to go. The 66 held on to keep fifth ahead of Van Dyk and Farrow.
The battle for the lead got interesting, with Givens all over the back bumper of Gallant. The last lap saw contact, which resulted in Gallant going around for the spin. Phil Givens crossed the line first afterwards, but was disqualified for rough driving. Kyle Neumeister crossed the line second, though was disqualified in post-race technical inspection.
As a result, it’d be Ray Flynn picking up the win ahead of the 66, Van Dyk, Farrow, the 85, the 11, Noah Woodland and Kevin Gallant.
