BRIGHTON, Ont. – August 9, 2016 – Brighton Speedway is excited to host its final Fan Appreciation night as well as the Kid’s Race for the Canadian National Autism Foundation presented by Greig Truck & Trailer and Comfort Zone Heating and Air Conditioning. All fans will have the chance to meet their favourite drivers on track at intermission for autographs, photos and special treats.
The Canadian National Autism Foundation (CNAF) will also be on hand for the annual Kid’s Race and to help raise national autism awareness. The CNAF, formed in 2000, is a charitable, volunteer-run organization committed to providing funding for educating the general public about autism while providing information and resources to families of people with autism.
Acton on the track is sure to be exciting as well with four weekly divisions in action. The Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models will headline the night with a 35-lap feature for the final round of the Hotch’s Auto Parts Triple Crown. After a week off, drivers are eager to hit the track again. Through 12 events, Phil Potts has a 60-point advantage over Charlie Sandercock. Adam Turner is third, 125 points off the pace. Brandon Mowat is just 130 points back of the lead while Kyle Sopaz occupies fifth.
The Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified drivers return to a regular 25-lap distance after completing the final round of their ABC Taxi Triple Crown. Josh Hennessy claimed his second win of the season and advanced to fourth in the standings. His older brother, Andrew Hennessy, won the overall Triple Crown and leads the champion standings by 300 points over Kraig Handley. Dan Ferguson trails in third. Derrick Greig is currently fifth.
Drivers in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock division will lick their wounds from an unusually rough race last week and storm back to action this week for their 20-lap feature. With 14 events complete, Justin Ramsay remains the championship leader with a 115-point advantage over Wade Purchase. Doug Anderson, Brandon Murrell and Jonah Mutton round out the top-five.
The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 drivers also return to action after a particularly thrilling feature last week. Adam Flieler staved off the efforts of point leader Tyler French to claim his second win of the season and move up to third in the standings. French remains atop the standings with rookie Matthew Moore in second. Peter Moore is fourth with 13 starts.
An entertaining night of action is affordable for the whole family. Adults are just $10 while a Family Pass, valid for two adults and up to three children 12 and under, is just $25. Spectator gates open at 5:30pm before racing begins at 7:00pm. For additional event information, visit www.brightonspeedway.ca.
