It was announced on August 11 Owen Kelly would return to the NASCAR XFINITY Series in the No.18 Tunity Toyota this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The thirty-nine year old driver will return to American motorsports driving for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) where Kelly will make an attempt to win his first race as well as score the team’s 10th victory this season.
Tunity offers all NASCAR fans the ability to view any muted live TV and obtain the live stream on their personal devices.
“We are excited to race with the number 18 and Owen Kelly this week, and allow millions of NASCAR fans to hear the race anywhere they are, in a bar, restaurant, at the gym or while waiting at the airport,” Yaniv Davidson, founder and CEO of Tunity said. “We look forward to continuing the relationship and we are filled with anticipation for the return of Matt Tifft to the driver’s seat – he’s an amazing rising talent and we’re proud to be his partner!”
While the Australian driver, has mainly raced in the Australia Supercar Series the past 12 years, the Tasmania native has four previous NASCAR top-tier series starts. One of the four was in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2013, while the other three in the NASCAR XFINITY series in 2010 and 2013. In 2013, he drove for JGR in two races, one was at Mid-Ohio where he had a strong run but finished 23rd because of an accident. Then he raced at Road America where he obtained a top-five finish, finishing in fourth.
“This is a great opportunity, I’d prefer it to be under different circumstances in regard to Matt’s health, but the good news is that he is on the mend, so I’m happy to help out the (No.) 18 team and I look forward to working with Chris Gayle also,” Kelly said. “The last time I ran Mid-Ohio was with JGR so it should all be familiar. I’d like to thank Joe Gibbs and the entire team for giving me this opportunity.”
