Team Penske will have a familiar face to race fans behind the wheel of their No.22 Discount Tire Ford in two weeks for the XFINITY Series race at Road America.
IndyCar star Alex Tagliani will be gunning for his first career NASCAR National Series checkered flag when the stars of the XFINITY Series hit the four mile road racing facility in Elkhart Lake, WI on August 27th.
Tagliani has seven career stats in the NASCAR XFINITY Series with four top-fives and four top-10s to go along with three poles. Notably, Tagliani has a best finish of second that he has achieved three times coming at Montreal (2011), Road America (2014), and Mid Ohio just last season.
Although he has yet to make a lap in the XFINITY Series this season, Tagliani has enjoyed great success in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. He has won three races and is in third place in points despite missing the season opener. Earlier this month, the french driver expressed interest in running an XFINITY race this year to OnPitRoad’s Tyson Lautenschlager.
