BRIGHTON, Ont. – August 15, 2016 – Following only the second rainout of the season, Brighton Speedway is excited to return to action with its 49th season of action on Saturday, August 20 with Weese Racing Anti-Bullying night presented by McDougall Insurance and Read’s Accounting. The night features the final 35-lap race of the Hotch’s Auto Parts Triple Crown for the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models.
The race marks the fifth annual Weese Racing Anti-Bullying night. Pro Late Model driver Caley Weese is the driving force behind the campaign, which continues to grow each season. Fans have the opportunity to purchase red anti-bullying t-shirts for $10 and get to join the pledge against bullying photo at intermission on race night. Shirts will be available on race night.
Each year the Weese Racing Anti-Bullying program participates in in dozens of community events across the Quinte area each year from Fun Fairs to the Waterfront Festival and charitable fundraisers to sponsor events while stressing the harmful impact of bullying to children and the need to eliminate it. Weese will race in Saturday’s event for the Pro Late Models.
The Pro Late Models have been dormant for two weeks after taking their annual week off on August 6 before the rainout on August 13. Brighton’s Phil Potts enters the final two weeks of August as the current point leader with a 60-point advantage over Trenton’s Charlie Sandercock. Picton native Adam Turner is third ahead of Brandon Mowat (Brighton) and Kyle Sopaz (Trenton).
Also on the schedule for the night are the Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4s and Quinte Septic Stingers. Andrew Hennessy of Picton leads the Canadian Modifieds standings in search of his second straight championship. He holds a 300-point gap over Kraig Handley while Dan Ferguson is third.
Justin Ramsay is the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock point leader with a 150-point advantage over Wade Purchase. Tyler French remains the leader in the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 division over Matthew Moore and Adam Flieler. Chris Lammle and Del MacGregor sit tied at the top of the Quinte Septic Super Stinger standings while Chantel Golden holds a miniscule 15-point lead over cousin Brittany Golden in the Quinte Septic Junior Stinger division.
Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm for the August 20 Weese Racing Anti-Bullying night presented by McDougall Insurance and Read’s Accounting. Race time is 7:00pm. Adult admission is just $10 while a Family Pass, valid for two adults, two youths and up to four children is just $25.
