Scott Dixon, driver of the No.9 Target Chevrolet, won the pole for the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Glen at Watkins Glen International, with the speed of 147.008 mph.
Will Power (146.922 mph) and Sebastien Bourdias (146.549 mph) were second and third.
Completing the top-five were Helio Castroneves (146.389 mph) and Tony Kanaan (146.317 mph).
Rounding out the rest of the top-10 were Max Chilton, Simon Pagenaud, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jack Hawksworth and Mikhail Aleshin.
Three cars No.7, No.14 and No.15 all had their two best times invalidated for their session because of Rule 8.3.7.1. Also Car No.5 had the best time of their session invalidated because of Rule 8.3.7.2.
There were no other incidents in qualifications.
