Chris Allard scored his first career GGC Construction Mini Stock feature victory in style as he dominated on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Cory Young won the first heat ahead of Eric Yorke, Gerritt Tiemersma, Jake Watson, Cameron McGlashan, Terry Woodley, Thomas Dunn and Steeve Melson.
Chris Allard won the second heat ahead of Samantha Shaw, JP Rosevaar, Nic Montanari, Bob Phinnemore, Dave Crumbie and Stefan Woyslaw.
The Dash for Cash didn’t go according to plan with contact on the backstretch between Rosevaar and Watson resulting in heavy front end damage to Watson, which forced him to pull off on Lap 2. Chris Allard went for the daily double ahead of Yorke, Young, Shaw, Tiemersma, Montanari, Rosevaar, Woodley, McGlashan and Crumbie.
Come feature time, Chris Allard and Nic Montanari spent the first three laps side-by-side for the lead with JP Rosevaar in third ahead of Cameron McGlashan while Jake Watson got sideways mid-pack on Lap 2.
The caution then flew two laps later as a result of Watson slowing with a problem. With 22 laps to go, Allard led Montanari, Rosevaar, McGlashan, Samantha Shaw, Dave Crumbie, Cory Young, Eric Yorke, Gerritt Tiemersma, Stefan Woyslaw, Terry Woodley, Steeve Melson, Thomas Dunn, Bob Phinnemore and Watson.
Allard got a good restart to put the No. 76 Georgian Chev Buick GMC, Morley Photography, Hair We Go of Stayner, SHS Shrubs Hard and Softscapes, Cabral Racing Promotions and Weld-It Creations Mini Stock out front ahead of Montanari as Rosevaar and McGlashan ran side-by-side for third. Rosevaar got the spot on Lap 5, with Yorke following him through.
Yorke then got alongside Rosevaar got third at Lap 6, completing the pass a lap later. Rosevaar now ran fourth as Tiemersma got alongside McGlashan for fifth at Lap 8. Tiemersma completed the pass a lap later, bringing Young through with him.
Tiemersma caught Rosevaar and looked to be set to complete the pass, but contact happened resulting in Tiemersma going around in turn four and the second caution. With 15 laps to go, Allard led Montanari, Yorke, Young, McGlashan, Shaw, Woodley, Watson, Crumbie, Woyslaw, Melson, Phinnemore, Dunn, Rosevaar and Tiemersma.
Allard got a good restart to keep the lead as Montanari and Yorke ran side-by-side for second ahead of McGlashan, Young and Woodley. The third caution then flew on Lap 14 as a result of Melson being spun off of turn two by Woyslaw.
Allard got another good restart to keep the lead while Montanari took second ahead of Yorke. Yorke then got alongside Montanari for second at Lap 15, with McGlashan and Young continuing to round out the top-five. Behind them, Watson and Woodley battled for sixth while Shaw and Tiemersma battled for eighth. Meanwhile, Rosevaar ran into problems, forcing him to pull off on Lap 17.
The battle for second sorted itself out on Lap 19 with Montanari taking the spot ahead of Yorke, while Young got alongside McGlashan for fourth with five laps to go. Young got the spot with three laps to go ahead of McGlashan, while Watson cleared Tiemersma to run sixth. Meanwhile, Woodley continued to fall back in the closing laps as Shaw passed him for eighth while Crumbie passed him for ninth in the final three laps.
Chris Allard picked up the win ahead of Nic Montanari, Eric Yorke, Cory Young and Cameron McGlashan. Jake Watson finished sixth, followed by Gerritt Tiemersma, Samantha Shaw, Dave Crumbie and Terry Woodley.
Steeve Melson finished 11th, followed by Thomas Dunn, Bob Phinnemore, Stefan Woyslaw and JP Rosevaar.
