In what has become accustom for Jody Bound, he dominated on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway en route to winning the Outlaw Midget feature.
Robin McLean won the first heat ahead of Adam Tyo, James Rodgers, Kevin Spiez, Ryan Brown and Zackary Milman while Steve Lassman broke on Lap 2.
Bound won the second heat ahead of Adam Carrothers, Shawn Gardner, Owen Elliott, Raynor Vickers and Larry Lawson as Jessica James ran into problems.
Mike Bradley won the third heat ahead of Rob McCall, Brian Woodland, Richard Woodland and Wayne McKibbon as both Nigel Buttivant and Russ Couture ran into problems.
The b-main wouldn’t go smoothly as Couture ran into problems while Lawson and Millman tangled off of turn four. Jessica James picked up the win ahead of Vickers, Lawson, McKibbon, Buttivant, Brown and Millman.
Come feature time, it’d be James Rodgers starting pole ahead of Rob McCall, Adam Carrothers, Adam Tyo, Mike Bradley, Jody Bound, Robin McLean, Shawn Gardner, Brian Woodland, Owen Elliott, Kevin Spiez, Jessica James, Richard Woodland, Raynor Vickers, Larry Lawson, Wayne McKibbon, Nigel Buttivant, Zackary Millman, Ryan Brown, Steve Lassman and Russ Couture.
Off the drop of the green flag, Rob McCall took the early lead as Bound worked his way up into second on the first lap ahead of Carrothers, Bradley, McLean and Gardner. Jody Bound’s charge through the field was complete on Lap 3 as he put the No. 5 Midget out front with Carrothers moving into second ahead of McCall. Behind Gardner, it’d be Brian Woodland running seventh as Rodgers and Elliott battled for eighth.
The shuffling continued with Bradley cracking the top-three on Lap 7, passing McCall for the third spot as McLean ran fifth. Gardner continued to run sixth ahead of Woodland and Rodgers. Elliott then got by Rodgers on Lap 9 for eighth, bringing Tyo through with him two laps later. Rodgers now ran 10th ahead of Brian Woodland as Lassman made his way down pit road.
McLean was set on continuing to move forward, getting alongside McCall for fourth at Lap 12, but fell back in line a lap later as Jessica James pulled off with a problem. McLean’s second attempt at the pass worked as he moved into fourth on Lap 14. Gardner tried to follow him through, but was unable to as he fell back in line in sixth.
Unfortunately, Elliott’s top-10 run came to an end with a couple laps to go as he pulled off with a problem.
Jody Bound picked up the win ahead of Adam Carrothers, Robin McLean, Mike Bradley and Shawn Gardner. Rob McCall finished sixth, followed by Adam Tyo, Kevin Spiez, Wayne McKibbon and Raynor Vickers.
