RICHMOND, Va. – NASCAR Next alumnus Dylan Lupton confirmed today that he has rejoined BK Racing for his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start in Saturdaynight’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.
In June, Lupton successfully made his Cup Series debut at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway in a third BK Racing entry. With some experience under his belt in a Sprint Cup car, the Wilton, California native is anxious to get back to the track and race.
“This is something that has just come together over the last few weeks,” said Lupton, driver of the No. 83 E.J. Wade Construction / Union Bank & Trust Toyota Camry. “I’m very excited and appreciative of the opportunity to once again be part of the BK Racing Team and to represent E.J. Wade Construction and Union Bank & Trust. I’m focused on doing a good job delivering a solid finish to both my team and sponsor Saturday night.”
Saturday night’s race marks the fifth three-car effort this season for BK Racing joining teammates Matt DiBenedetto and David Ragan. Like Lupton, DiBenedetto will also be backed by E.J. Wade Construction and Union Bank & Trust.
E.J. Wade Construction is a Class A Contractor and a VDOT Prequalified Contractor that has highly trained professionals who have their tradesman licenses in electrical, plumbing, HVAC and gas fitting tradesman licenses.
E.J. Wade Construction is a company that believes in quality, reliability, friendliness, and putting the concerns of the client first.
“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Ron Devine, Doug Fritz and everyone at BK Racing and are proud to be back for another race with the team,” said Jeff Wade President of E.J. Wade Construction. “Everyone here at E.J. Wade Construction will be cheering on Matt and Dylan at Richmond.”
Like Sonoma, Lupton does have prior experience at Richmond. Last year, the two-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West winner made one of his eight NASCAR XFINITY Series starts at Richmond driving the No. 25 car for Athenian Motorsports.
“I’m hoping that my prior experience at Richmond can help me this weekend,” added Lupton who will make his 12th NASCAR national series start Saturday night. “I love short track racing. Richmond is a momentum track and with my first time in a Cup car, I’ll have to do my very best in providing proper feedback to my team making sure I give our No. 83 E.J. Wade Construction / Union Bank & Trust Toyota Camry the best opportunity possible for a solid finish in the final race of the regular season.”
Longtime industry veteran Doug Richert will serve as crew chief for the 26th Sprint Cup race of the season.
After finishing second in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship in 2014, Lupton advanced to the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2015 in a partial schedule with Athenian Motorsports. Additionally, Lupton has been elected twice to the NASCAR Next program. An evolution of the Next9 initiative that began in 2011, the NASCAR Next program (2014-2015 and 2015-2016) is an all-embracing industry initiative to help spotlight the sport’s rising stars – and boost fan recognition around talent that will grow into NASCAR Sprint Cup Series mainstays.
In particular, Lupton has been an advocate for the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) project where he has spent time informing students about the fundamentals of NASCAR and how each subject applies.
Lupton graduated this past May with a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from UNC Charlotte.
