Part-time NASCAR XFINITY Series and development driver for JR Motorsports Josh Berry will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Chicagoland Speedway for Contreras Motorsports.
Berry currently drives for JR Motorsports in the CARS Super Late Model Tour where he is a six-time race winner. The Tennessee driver was discovered by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on the popular online racing simulator, iRacing.
Berry’s Truck Series debut at Chicagoland will be used to get the 25-year-old experience on some of NASCAR’s bigger tracks.
“Racing is all about seat time and learning as you rise up through the ranks,” Berry said. “The opportunity to make my debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with Contreras Motorsports is all of that. I can’t thank them enough for the chance to show what I can do in their Silverado, and I can’t wait to hit the track at Chicagoland Speedway. It’s a great opportunity to race on a bigger track with a solid team.”
In five XFINITY Series starts, Berry has two top-10 finishes, which includes a ninth-place effort at Iowa Speedway in July.
Team owner Carlos Contreras has been around NASCAR for a number of years and sees Berry as one of NASCAR’s next up-and-coming drivers.
“I’m excited to see what Josh can do in our Chevy Silverado,” Contreras said. “Josh has impressed me with how hard he works to compete in NASCAR and I think he will do well for us in Chicago.”
