After fighting through mechanical issues all season long, everything came together for Chandler Bos on Saturday night as he scored the victory in the Signs of Innovation Mighty Mini feature.
Last week’s feature winner Daniel Montanari won the first heat ahead of Bos, Doug Wilman, Eric Rainey, Morgan Robson Jr., Doug Smith, Harold Noseworthy and Dylan Holmes.
Current point leader Johnny Paradzinski won the second heat ahead of Robert Toope, Melissa Bullen, Lisa DeLeeuw, James Levi, Wendy Adams, Josh Inglis and Peter Wakeling.
Montanari went for the daily double, winning the Dash for Cash ahead of Paradzinski, Bos, Toope, Rainey, Wilman, Bullen, DeLeeuw, Levi, Adams, Robson Jr. and Smith.
Come feature time, it’d be Melissa Bullen starting pole ahead of Morgan Robson Jr., Peter Wakeling, Wendy Adams, Justin Holmes, Chandler Bos, Doug Wilman, Harold Noseworthy, Doug Smith, James Levi, Eric Rainey, Robert Toope, Daniel Montanari, Josh Inglis, Johnny Paradzinski and Lisa DeLeeuw.
Off the drop of the green flag, Bullen put the No. 67 RYANSLANDSCAPING.CA, THE CANADIAN GRILL, K&J GENERAL CONTRACTING, DALE FARREN & SON OF SNOWBALL,ONT, SMOOCHIES CAKERY, KEVIN’S MEDIA STREAMERS Mustang out front ahead of Wakeling and Holmes.
Wilman got alongside Holmes for third on Lap 2, completing the pass a lap later and passing Wakeling to move up into second. With 16 laps to go, Bullen led ahead of Wilman, Bos, Rainey, Montanari, Paradzinski, Adams, DeLeeuw, Robson Jr., Toope, Levi, Smith and Inglis.
Bullen got a good restart to keep the lead as Wilman and Bos ran side-by-side for second, with Bos taking the spot on Lap 6 and bringing Montanari through with him. Behind them, Paradzinski went for a bit of a slide after contact from Rainey, but managed to keep it under control and going. He’d move into fifth as Rainey and DeLeeuw battled for sixth behind him. Unfortunately, Toope’s night came to an end on Lap 8 as he made his way down pit road with a mechanical issue.
Back on track, it’d be Montanari tracking Bos down for second, getting alongside him for the spot on Lap 9. He’d complete the pass a lap later with Paradzinski moving into fourth ahead of Wilman, Rainey and DeLeeuw. Rainey then got alongside Wilman for fifth at Lap 12, as DeLeeuw continued to run seventh ahead of Adams, Levi, Inglis and Smith.
After passing Bos for second, Montanari worked on tracking down Bullen for the lead and quickly able to do so. He’d go to make his move for the top spot on Lap 15, but there’d be contact between the pair resulting in Bullen going around. The pair would both be sent to the back of the field, with Bos taking over the top spot.
