Everything seems to be going how Eric Yorke wants as he scored his fourth victory of the season on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Last week’s feature winner Chris Allard won the first heat ahead of Gerritt Tiemersma, Brandon Crumbie, Terry Woodley, Cameron McGlashan, Cory Young and Steeve Melson.
Current point leader Nic Montanari won the second heat ahead of Eric Yorke, Jake Watson, Samantha Shaw, Dave Crumbie, Bob Phinnemore and Stefan Woyslaw.
Allard went for the daily double, winning the Dash for Cash ahead of Montanari, Yorke, Brandon Crumbie, Watson, Woodley, Shaw, McGlashan, Dave Crumbie, Tiemersma and Phinnemore.
Come feature time, things didn’t get off to a smooth start as Cory Young ran into a issue, backing up the outside line which resulted in contact between Cameron McGlashan and Chris Allard, and a spinning Bob Phinnemore. The result was Allard and Young both done for the event, while everybody else was able to carry as if nothing happened.
So for the second attempt at starting the event it’d be Mike Robinson Jr. leading Dave Crumbie, Nic Montanari, Jake Watson, Eric Yorke, Brandon Crumbie, Bob Phinnemore, Gerritt Tiemersma, Stefan Woyslaw, Samantha Shaw, Terry Woodley, Steeve Melson and Cameron McGlashan.
The first attempt initially went smoothly with Robinson Jr. putting the No. 95 GREEN VALLEY ELECTRIC, IDEAL SUPPLY, AIRCON SERVICES & REEFER SALES INC., SIMCOE AUTO RECYCLERS, IRON HORSE BAR & GRILL OF COOKSTOWN, CHUCK TAYLOR HAULAGE OF SUTTON, SKATE ZONE SKATE SHARPENING, OKTANE PRODUCTIONS AND GEORGIAN HOT TUBS Neon out front ahead of Dave Crumbie as Watson and Montanari ran side-by-side for second.
However, coming around to complete the first lap, things went affray as Watson tagged the back of Crumbie while three-wide with Montanari, getting Crumbie sideways and turning him into the outside frontstretch wall. Crumbie was okay, and able to continue, with Watson sent to the rear of the field for the restart.

Following the clean-up, the green flag was back out with Robinson Jr. once again jumping out front as Montanari and Yorke ran side-by-side for second. Yorke cleared Montanari on Lap 4, getting alongside Robinson Jr. for the lead as Brandon Crumbie and Montanari ran side-by-side for third. Montanari got the spot on Lap 6 ahead of Crumbie with Tiemersma rounding out the top-five.
On Lap 7, Yorke put the No. 51 Can-Alignment Motorsports, Milton Napa Auto Parts, J&D Tire, Solex Steel, McKeown Collision, Partimer Signs, Ancaster Embroidery, Country Girl Designs, Cabral Racing Promotions and Skytec Rentals Nissan out front ahead of Robinson Jr. and Montanari as Dave Crumbie pulled his mustang down pit road.
Brandon Crumbie continued to run fourth ahead of Tiemersma, Woodley, Watson and Shaw as Phinnemore and McGlashan ran side-by-side for ninth. McGlashan took the spot on Lap 10 ahead of Phinnemore and Woyslaw. Woodley then got alongside Tiemersma for fifth, completing the pass a lap alter and bringing Watson through with him.
Tiemersma now ran seventh ahead of Shaw, McGlashan, Phinnemore, Woyslaw and Melson. Shaw then made her way past Tiemersma for eighth on Lap 18, while Melson passed both Woyslaw and Phinnemore on Lap 20. The passes continued as the laps counted down with McGlashan passing Tiemersma for ninth with two laps to go.
Eric Yorke cruised the rest of the way to victory, 2.710 seconds ahead of Mike Robinson Jr., Nic Montanari, Brandon Crumbie and Terry Woodley. Jake Watson finished sixth, followed by Samantha Shaw, Cameron McGlashan, Gerritt Tiemersma and Steeve Melson. Stefan Woyslaw finished 11th, followed by Bob Phinnemore, Dave Crumbie, Cory Young, Chris Allard and Thomas Dunn.
