On Saturday night, Terry Woodley managed to avoid all the chaos en route to a solid top-five finish at Sunset Speedway.
Woodley started off the night solidly, finishing fourth in his heat, followed by a sixth-place finish in the Dash for Cash.
Starting mid-pack for the feature, Woodley escaped the initial wreck off the green when a competitor didn’t go on the start to move up into the 11th position. He then escaped another big wreck on Lap 2 after contact with two competitors to pick up another pair of positions. Following the restart, Woodley immediately went to work at making up more ground, running sixth as of Lap 7. He then got alongside Gerritt Tiemersma for fifth at Lap 10, completing the pass a lap later.
From there on, he was unable to catch the front four runners, ultimately crossing the finish line in the fifth position. For Woodley, it marks his 26th top-10 finish in the last 28 races dating all the way back to last season, and his third top-five of 2016.
