For the second practice session of the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sonoma Raceway, Helio Castroneves, driver of the No. 3 Hitachi Chevrolet, was the fastest with a time of 1:16.6678.
Following Castroneves in second and third were his Team Penske teammates – Will Power, driver of the No 12. Verizon Chevrolet, with a time of 1:16.7072 and Simon Pagenaud, driver of the No. 22 Hewlett Packard Chevrolet, with a time of 1:16.9757.
Rounding out the top-five were Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the No. 28 DHL Honda, with a time of 1:17.0569 and Alexander Rossi, driver of the No. 98 Castrol Edge/Curb Honda, with a time of 1:17.0817.
Sixth through tenth were as follows: Juan Pablo Montoya, Carlos Munoz, Sebastien Bourdias, Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton.
One incident brought out the red flag during the session when Conor Daly, driver of the No. 18 Jonathan Byrd’s Hospitality Honda, engine expired.
