These drivers have won the last four spring and fall velocity events. What do they have in common? They’re each known as top drivers in their respective divisions. The Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway always brings out the best of the best in each division, and the Mini Stocks are no different. There will be drivers from across the province hoping to claim victory lane as their own.
So who will get the job done? Here’s 10 drivers whom have ran at Sunset Speedway during the season to watch.
Chandler Bos has competed in the track’s Mighty Mini division, which is one step down from the Mini Stocks. He struggled throughout the year with issues with his car, though has come on strong late in the season. Just two weeks ago, he got to experience racing winning glory for the first time in his career as he picked up the win. Now with a win under his belt, he will hope to impress against the top drivers of the division with a strong finish.
2015 Full Throttle Motor Speedway Champion Brandon Crumbie already has a big win under his belt this year, having picked up the win at Delaware Speedway in their Mini Stock invitational a couple weeks ago. A familiar face to everybody in the division, he will hope to pick up his first win of the season at Sunset Speedway after posting seven top-five finishes.
Dylan Holmes has continued to improve on a weekly basis and found himself as a contender for race wins late in the Mighty Mini season. With his feet wet under him, a solid performance this weekend could do wonders for the teenager.
2016 Spring Velocity winner Andy Kamrath is hoping to make it a sweep on the season this weekend – but in a different car. He wrecked his car at an invitational at Sauble Speedway, resulting in “The Instant Classic” having to put together a new car for playoff season. But as a seasoned veteran, it shouldn’t keep him down and he’ll be a player at race’s end on Sunday.
2016 Mini Stock Champion Nic Montanari impressed fans throughout the season with consistency on a weekly basis en route to his first career championship. The teenager knows how to get the job done as he won twice this season, and finished off the season with a pair of top-three finishes.
2016 Mighty Mini Champion Johnny Paradzinski has certainly left his mark on the track this year in his first ever season behind the wheel as he won four races and scored 12 top-fives en route to his championship. Now in his first race as a Mini Stock competitor, Paradzinski will be looking to show everybody he’s ready to move up.
2013 Mini Stock Champion Warren Paxton hopes to score his second feature victory of the year after picking the win earlier this year on June 11. Since scoring the win, Paxton returned to Sunset Speedway on three more occasions, scoring a pair of a runner-ups and a third.
Eric Rainey has been a mainstay in the division for a long time and is someone you can count on to try as hard as they can with the best finish possible. With three top-fives this year in Mighty Mini competition, it’ll be interesting to see if he can qualify for the main event this year.
Mike Robinson Jr. and his team have caught the attention of fans this year with a couple wins to their credit despite controversy that has been discussed. While he has been a front runner this year, the last couple of weeks haven’t been as kind with some poor showings. However, it’s worth noting he posted a pair of top-fives this year.
2012 Mini Stock Champion Eric Yorke has been on a hot streak lately as he enters the Velocity 250 with two wins and four top-four finishes in the last four races. Can he parlay it into success this weekend? He’s certainly someone to keep an eye on.
