A gamble in Sin City could put a non-Chase driver in victory lane in Saturday night’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Rico Abreu wants to be the gambling driver that wins his first career Truck race.
Abreu has shown speed throughout the year on 1.5-mile tracks, and that speed was shown during final Camping World Truck Series practice as he led the way. Abreu posted the fastest lap with a 30.577 second time.
Daniel Hemric, who was quickest in first practice, was second in final practice followed by Spencer Gallagher, Matt Crafton and William Byron.
Cole Custer was sixth in the session with John Wes Townley, Grant Enfinger, Timothy Peters and Ben Rhodes rounding out the top-10.
Half of the Chase field wound up outside the top-10 in practice. Christopher Bell was 11th, Ben Kennedy was 12th, Johnny Sauter was 13th and John Hunter Nemechek was 17th. Nemechek will need to find some more speed if he wants to advance in the Chase as he was the slowest Chase driver in both practice sessions.
