For the second straight year, it’d be Lane Zardo picking up the victory in the APC Thunder Car Youngguns Showcase at the Autumn Colours Classic.
Zardo started on pole behind the wheel of Ken Grubb’s ford ahead of Treyten Lapcevich, Miles Tyson, Ethan Constable, Brandon Passer, Cayden Lapcevich driving Hudson Nagy’s car, Jade Franklin, Jordan Howse, Chad Corcoran driving Kevin Gallant, Brandon McFerran, Jordan Howse, Coltin Everingham, the 00 and James Townsend.
The drop of the green flag saw a battle for the lead between Zardo and Treyten Lapcevich, with Zardo getting the top spot on Lap 2 ahead of Tyson and Lapcevich. Franklin moved into fourth on Lap 3 ahead of Latimer and Constable.
Latimer didn’t stay there long, though, slowing with an apparent problem a lap later. As a result, it’d be Constable taking over fifth on Lap 5 ahead of Howse, Corcoran, McFerran, Cayden Lapcevich, Passer, Townsend and Latimer. Unfortunately, Everingham’s run came to an end on Lap 6 as he headed down pit road with a problem.
McFerran kept moving forward, passing Gallant seventh on Lap 7, bringing Lapcevich through with him. Gallan now ran ninth ahead of Townsend and Passer. Passer then made his way down pit road on Lap 10 with a problem, allowing Latimer to move up to 11th.
There was one scary moment during this race as Brandon Vennor lost control of his car on Lap 14, coming up the track and getting into McFerran. The result was both drivers making significant contact with the wall, including a wall ride by Vennor. Both drivers were uninjured in the incident.
Zardo got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Tyson as Treyten Lapcevich and Franklin battled for third. Lapcevich got the spot on Lap 16, with Howse slipping into fourth ahead of Franklin.
Lane Zardo then led the rest of the way en route to victory ahead of Miles Tyson, Treyten Lapcevich, Jordan Howse, Jade Franklin, Cayden Lapcevich, Jordan Latimer, James Townsend and Ethan Constable.
