On October 17 it was announced Korbin Forrister would be making his first start of 2016 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 5 All Secure Document Disposal Company Toyota Tundra for Wauters Motorsports, on Saturday, October 22 during the Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Forrister is no stranger at the track as he already has two prior Truck starts there, as well as a pair of starts in the ARCA Racing series too.
The Cedartown, Georgia native previously teamed up with Veteran NASCAR crew chief and team owner Richie Wauters earlier on in the year when he came back to asphalt racing. Forrister competed in the CARS Tour event at Myrtle Beach Speedway, the final Blizzard Series event at 5 Flags Speedway and in the All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville for Wauters’ Super Late Model team.
“Richie (Wauters) is a great crew chief, the best I’ve ever had the privilege to work with,” Korbin Forrister said. “When we met we decided to start at the Late Model (SLM) level. I’ve been out of the seat most of this year and that’s hard racing when you’re in those (cars), they teach you the basics, hard racing and to feel the car and learn to give feedback to the crew chief the right away. Plus the races I ran were a lot of laps, and seat time is hard to beat, I’ve learned a ton over the past three weekends that I wouldn’t have learned without being in those events.”
“Our relationship has developed well,” Forrister continued. “He has been doing this for a long time and it shows week in and week out. He knows what needs to be done to get out front and stay out front. He pushes you to be the best you can be every lap, and wants to do nothing but go out and win every weekend, and I like that, he’s got a lot of passion for this sport and winning. You don’t see that much anymore in this day and time. I feel like it’s a good fit here and I plan on racing with him for a long time as long as the funds are there.”
Wauters as a crew chief has one win with Kyle Busch in 2009, to go with three top-five finishes in his five starts at Talladega in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
“Wauters Motorsports is excited to be going racing at Talladega Superspeedway,” Wauters added. “We’ve always enjoyed superspeedway racing. I’ve always had good trucks and the Toyota Tundra should be strong this weekend with Korbin (Forrister) behind the wheel. We are looking forward to getting some good seat time and exposure for Korbin this weekend.”
