Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup are set to go head to head on the streets of Sydney this weekend to decide the winner of the 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
The Red Bull Racing Australia teammates will battle it out at the season finale, the Coates Hire Sydney 500, in what will be the last race at Sydney Olympic Park before it moves to Newcastle in 2017.
Van Gisbergen leads the six-time Champion Whincup by 191 points as the young Kiwi driver looks to take out his first ever Supercars Championship.
Supercars Legend Craig Lowndes will be looking to make it a clean sweep for the team by securing third position as he fights to hold off Scott McLaughlin in his last race for Volvo before he heads to DJR Team Penske in 2017.
The on-track action will start on Friday with two 40-minute practice sessions. Saturday will feature qualifying and a 250km race, with Sunday bringing qualifying, a Top 10 Shootout and the final race of the season, a 250km affair starting at 3:40pm AEDT.
Admission on Friday will be free for all fans and Saturday will also include a post-race concert featuring Killing Heidi, The Rogue Traders featuring Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Stonefield at Cathy Freeman Park.
The Coates Hire Sydney 500 will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Channel 506 across Friday, Saturday and Sunday and simulcast live on Network Ten and WIN TV in regional areas on both Saturday and Sunday. Please check local guides for times.
