| Concord, North Carolina (February 15, 2017) –Veteran Tom Hessert is back in the driver’s seat ready to capture glory in this weekend’s season opening Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 Driven by General Tire at Daytona International Speedway.
Hessert, a mainstay on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards circuit over the last decade, hopes to capture his first career win at the famed Florida speedway behind the wheel of his No.25 Venturini Motorsports – Andrews Products Toyota Camry.
“Winning at a historic track like this is every racers dream,” says Hessert. “Who knows, this might be our year. We’ve got a really strong Andrews Toyota – my teammate Spencer Davis ran my car last month at the test and set quick time early on. These Venturini cars are solid on the plate tracks. We had a winning car last year before cutting a tire. I’d say we’ve got some unfinished business to take care of this weekend.”
Set to make his 180th career ARCA start, Hessert has notched 6 career victories to go along with 53 top-5 and 106 top-10 finishes throughout his career. Already a restrictor-plate winner at Talladega in 2013, the 30-year old driver hopes to complete the sweep and park his Andrews Toyota in Daytona’s famous Victory Lane Saturday afternoon.
Hessert will be back at Daytona under the watchful eyes of crew chief Dave Leiner. The combo orchestrated a solid 2016 season together in route to Hessert’s career best second place finish in the series’ National Championship point standings.
Venturini Motorsports, entering its 35th year of ARCA Series competition, looks to return to Daytona’s Gatorade Victory Lane for the second time in the past four years. In 2013, driver John Wes Townley delivered the team’s sole Daytona victory. VMS, the well-known ARCA fixture, has compiled 43 series victories overall – 30 wins coming since 2008.
