Full-time NASCAR Pinty’s Series competitor Alex Labbe had a strong weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in the Lonestar State.
Labbe entered Texas with only one NASCAR XFINITY Series start to his credit at Phoenix International Raceway last fall. He finished 23rd in that race, and entered Texas with hopes of a strong run to earn approval of a full-time XFINITY license. In his first oval race on a track larger than one mile, Labbe brought the No. 90 Kappa/Can-Am Chevy home in 28th.
“I couldn’t have picked a better place to gain experience. Our goal coming here racing for the first time on a 1.5 mile’s track was to learn as much as possible,” Labbe said in a team release. “I couldn’t thank enough my sponsor Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear for the golden opportunity to race among the best drivers of the sport.”
“It’s only my second time racing NASCAR Xfinity Series, first time going to 180 mph, first time on a 1.5 mi track, first time pitting on a green flag and all that happening on a very unknown and treasure track. The No. 90 team did a great job today, and we have a lot to be proud of. I can’t wait to continue my pathways in the Xfinity Series and to start my season in the Pinty’s Series.”
Labbe plans on running a few more XFINITY races sporadically throughout the season, while also contesting the NASCAR Pinty’s Series championship beginning in May at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
