Following a vicious crash during Indianapolis 500 qualifying on Saturday, INDYCAR issued a medical update stating that Verizon IndyCar Series driver Sebastien Bourdais had a successful surgery on Saturday night to fix pelvic and hip injuries he sustained while attempting to qualify at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Surgery went well,” IndyCar Medical Director Dr. Geoffrey Billows said. “I’ve met with Sebastien this morning and he was doing even better that I expected.”
OnPitRoad.com will post any additional updates released on Bourdais’s condition as they are made available.
While a replacement driver has yet to be named for Bourdais, rumors floating around the IndyCar paddock have placed two-time Indy 500 competitor James Davison on top of the discussion.
