Officials from Circle Sport-TMG Motorsports announced this afternoon that Boris Said will pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet SS this weekend in the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. Jeffrey Earnhardt, the team’s primary driver so far this season, is expected to return to the team next weekend at Daytona.
Said, a perennial road course ringer in all three of NASCAR’s top divisions, has 52 starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series since 1999. He has two career poles in the series with one coming in 2003 at Sonoma, and the other coming in 2006 at Daytona International Speedway. His best career finish came at Watkins Glen International in 2005 where he finished third. He has two victories combined in the top three series in NASCAR with one in the XFINITY Series back in 2010 at Montreal and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory in 1998 at Sonoma.
Recently, Said has spent the last five years driving the No. 32 in the Cup Series on the road courses, first for Frankie Stoddard, then Archie St. Hiliare when he took over the team.
Said joins Billy Johnson, Josh Bilicki, Tommy Regan, and Alon Day on the list of road course ringers entering Sunday’s race. The latter four will also make their series debuts.
