Grant Enfinger put on another strong performance last weekend at Pocono Raceway in the Overton’s 150. Pocono has been good to Enfinger in the past, and he was able to use his past ARCA experience to his benefit for his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at the track.
Despite the strong run, a mechanical issue toward the end relegated theĀ Fairhope, AL native to 13th after he ran inside the top-10 majority of the afternoon.
“It was a rough weekend for us in the Jive Communications Tundra. Everybody worked really really hard. We struggled yesterday but made the truck a lot better today in the race,” Enfinger told OnPitRoad.com following the race on Saturday. “We probably had a chance at a top-five after Jeff Hensley played the strategy game just right there towards the end and we had some sort of mechanical failure there, not sure what it was yet but it would hold on and we finished 13th.
“Not a sign of how good we were, we didn’t have a contending truck that’s for sure but the way everything worked out we should’ve run fifth or sixth there.”
With the 13th-place finish on Saturday, Enfinger sits just outside the playoff cut line as time begins to run out for a run for the playoffs. Enfinger has steadily improved as the season has gone on. He has a best finish this season of third at Dover and Texas, and is still looking for the all important win to guarantee him a seat in NASCAR’s postseason.
