Bass Pro Shops and 5-Hour Energy will return to the No. 78 Toyota Camry in 2018. The sponsorship for Martin Truex Jr.’s 2018 campaign is set and is full.
Furniture Row Racing owner Barney Visser, team president Joe Garone and Truex Jr. announced Sunday morning at Talladega Superspeedway that all 36 races have been signed and accounted for.
A 30-race co-primary sponsorship will be shared between Bass Pro Shops and 5-Hour Energy. The two companies are forming a business-to-business relationship. The remaining six races will be filled by Auto Owners Insurance.
“This type of a co-primary sponsorship has been made a reality only because of the incredible cooperation between Johnny Morris and his Bass Pro team, along with Rise’ Meguiar and her 5-hour Energy team,” Furniture Row Racing team owner Barney Visser said in a team release. “It took a number of conversations and a spirit of partnership to make this happen and we thank Bass Pro Shops and 5-hour Energy for being open-minded to this concept.”
5-Hour Energy joined the organization earlier this year to sponsor the No. 77 piloted by Erik Jones. Jones, of course, is moving to Joe Gibbs Racing next year, and will be unable to carry it over to the organization being as it was a product grandfathered in the Monster Energy entitlement deal.
Bass Pro Shops has been a long time sponsor of Truex, dating all the way back to his days in the XFINITY Series that included two championships. Bass Pro Shops made their debut with Truex way back in 2004 at Daytona International Speedway.
“Martin is a true champion on and off the racetrack and we are proud to continue supporting him and the No. 78 race team in 2018,” said Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris. “NASCAR is an excellent platform for Bass Pro Shops and we share in our customers’ enthusiasm and passion for racing. We’re very excited to continue our longstanding relationship with Martin Truex Jr., Barney Visser, and our friends at Toyota.”
