D.J. Kennington came to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park expecting to race only in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, but the St. Thomas, Ont. driver has picked up a late opportunity to run the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series.
Kennington got the call to drive the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet after the team’s usual driver, Tyler Dippel, was suspended by NASCAR.
Young’s Motorsports posted a statement to their Twitter early Saturday morning saying they were notified of Dippel’s suspension on Thursday and that they respect NASCAR’s decision.
The former Pinty’s Series champion made his announcement that would get behind the wheel of the No. 02 Saturday on Twitter.
