NASCAR announced on Tuesday that is has expanded the Playoff eligible drivers in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series from eight to 10. The move comes on the heels of the 2019 season, which many fans view as controversial, as Matt Crafton wrapped up his third series championship, despite not winning a single race all season long.
The Playoff schedule will remain at seven races, but gone is Homestead-Miami Speedway, which has been moved to March 20. Added will be World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. Other than some minor date changes, the remainder of the Playoff schedule will remain the same.
NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Managing Director Brad Moran said of the changes, “Expanding the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series playoff field to 10 is a win-win for drivers, teams and, most importantly, the passionate fans who support our Gander Trucks. This will only increase the competitive intensity this series offers, as more drivers and teams vie for one of the most coveted championships in all of racing.”
The Truck Series kicks off the 2020 season on Friday, February 14 at Daytona International Speedway.
This change is a plus for both series. Thank You NASCAR.
