Joey Coulter to run full truck schedule for GMS Racing

As the trucks took to the highbanks of Daytona for Pre-season Thunder, Joey Coulter revealed his plans for the 2014 season. Coulter will drive for GMS Racing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“I can’t wait to get this season started,” the 23-year-old said. “The GMS Racing guys have been putting in a lot of hard work the past few weeks to get us prepared for this year and I truly believe we can compete for the championship. That is our goal and we expect to be in hunt all season.”

GMS Racing entered into a technical alliance with Chevrolet and Richard Childress Racing for the 2014 season. When RCR shut down their truck team, GMS acquired the assets for this coming year.GMS will use Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines this coming season.

Coulter drove for Richard Childress Racing in 2011 and 2012, posting a win, three poles and 28 top 10s. Coulter moved to Kyle Busch Motorsports last season, posting three top fives and five top 10s while failing to reach victory lane.

GMS Racing added that Jeff Stankiewicz will be crew cheifing the effort.

“GMS Racing is proud to have Joey (Coulter) driving one of our Chevrolet Silverados this season,” team manager Nic Moncher said. “He has become a proven talent week in and week out and we believe under the guidance of Jeff (Stankiewicz), the duo will become a dynamic threat on and off the track. The alliances GMS Racing has formed with Chevrolet and RCR along with Joey’s driving ability will only help solidify our presence at the track each week.”
