(Millville, NJ – June 2, 2014) In only his second road course start, Grant Enfinger earns a top-five finish for the Great Railing 150 yesterday at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Driving the No. 90 Triple K Construction – Motor Honey/Casite Ford Fusion, Enfinger finished the race in 4th after starting 11th.
“I’m very proud of this team,” says current 2014 ARCA Racing Series points leader, Grant Enfinger. “We worked into the middle of the night throughout the entire week to get this car ready for the weekend. This finish definitely helped us as we continue to run for the championship.”
Enfinger used the restarts and the front straightaway to his advantage. He passed the No. 15 car on lap 20 to secure the eighth position on the straightaway, and then passed the No. 6 car for the seventh position on lap 22.
Only two cautions flew throughout the race on lap 1 and on lap 10. With both cautions being too early in the race, Crew Chief Howard Bixman decided to wait and pit on lap 31 taking four Hoosier tires and Sunoco fuel under green flag conditions. Grant stated the car felt great, and there was no changes needed.
Once the field cycled through on pit stops, Enfinger was given the 6th position. Enfinger then passed Frank Kimmel for the 5th position, but Justin Boston cut down a tire and gave the 4th position away to Grant where he finished the race.
“I think the car may have been better than the driver during practice yesterday, but I feel that I learned a lot throughout the race,” says Enfinger. “Earning a top-5 at a road course is like a win in my book and I’m very satisfied with this finish. I can’t thank Howard and this crew enough for building this competitive car in just a few days. The car was great right off the trailer and it shows the caliber of this small team and the heart they have.”
Enfinger also commented, “We’ve already accomplished so much this season and Team BCR has given me the best opportunity I’ve ever had in my racing career. We get very little credit or the exposure we deserve for preparing winning racecars. Howard has done a fantastic job building this team from the ground up. I’m so proud to be apart of this Championship winning journey this year. We appreciate all of our great partners and I have to thank Triple K Construction, Motor Honey, Casite, Wurth, Stanley Industries, Roush Yates and Ford Racing for giving me this opportunity.”
Crew Chief, Howard Bixman mentioned, “I am extremely impressed with Grant and this team this weekend. Road racing isn’t Grant’s or this team’s specialty. This is only Grant’s second road course start and the team’s first. Being the highest finishing points driver this weekend shows how determined Grant and this team are to win this championship.”
Bixman also stated, “We ended up having to borrow this car since we didn’t have a road course car, and we weren’t able to start working on it until Sunday night. Working through the wee hours all week, every night, shows the heart this team has. I said early last week if we give Grant a solid car, his talent and drive for this championship would pay off. I have to thank our partners for allowing us to do this race, and also this entire crew. Along with everybody we leaned on this past week to make this a successful points day. We made a tremendous amount of sacrifices this past week, working late hours in the shop and continued to work hard all weekend to earn a top-5 finish at a track we lack experience at.”
Grant will head to the next race on schedule on June 7 at Pocono Raceway as the points leader with a 55 point advantage over Mason Mitchell.
