In 2013, Cory Young made the ¼ mile his playground – scoring the track championship. On Friday night, Young kept the trend going as he won both features to sweep the night at Full Throttle Motor Speedway.
The night started off with Tessa Cremasco on the pole for the first feature ahead of Scott Mast, Clark Hartman, Cory Young, Paul Boyd, Travis McLean, Kevin Bridge, Scott Schlueter, the 77, T.J. Edwards, Tim Tolton and Bill Clarke. Young quickly made his way to the lead by lap five, ahead of Mast as Bridge and Hartman fought for third. Bridge would get by Hartman at lap nine, with both Bridge and Hartman getting past Mast for second and third at lap 14.
Though at the front, it was all Cory Young as he couldn’t be ran down for the lead. Bridge finished second, followed by Hartman, Mast, Clarke, Tolton, Cremasco, Boyd, Schlueter, McLean and Edwards.
In the second feature, Tolton would start on pole ahead of Bridge, Clarke, Schlueter, McLean, Boyd, Young, Hartman, Mast, Cremasco, Edwards and the 77. On the drop of the green flag, Tolton and Bridge ran side-by-side for the lead with Bridge assuming control just before the caution flew for Cremasco being spun in turn two. On the restart, it’d be another battle for the lead, with Bridge grabbing the advantage on lap three. Young would then get alongside Tolton for second, completing the pass. Young then got alongside Bridge and made his way by, grabbing the lead. Bridge and Tolton then got into a battle for second when slight contact was made cutting Bridge’s tire, ending his night early.
On the restart, Young would get the jump ahead of Tolton. Hartman then got alongside Tolton for second, passing him. At the front, it was all Cory Young as he led the rest of the way for victory. Hartman finished second, followed by Tolton, Clarke, Mast and Schlueter.
