(Long Pond, PA – June 9, 2014) Following a difficult weekend, Grant Enfinger and Team BCR worked hard for a top-10 finish at Pocono Raceway.
“We just couldn’t get the car where we wanted it, no matter how many changes we made,” says Enfinger. “We fought hard all weekend and throughout the race to earn a top-10 finish, and to stay in contention for the Championship.”
Enfinger posted only the 11th highest lap time during Friday’s practice session. Making as many changes possible, the No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite Ford Fusion qualified in the 9th position for the Pocono ARCA 200.
Grant struggled throughout the race with the car being too tight. Team BCR brought the car in twice for Hoosier tires, Sunoco fuel and adjustments to fix the issues. The No. 90 Ford was still too tight for Enfinger after two pit stops, so the crew chose to bring in the No. 90 for a third time on lap 67, in order to make adjustments to the right front camber.
When Enfinger was finally ready to restart in the 12th position, Grant fought his way through the field, where he finally finished in 8th.
Enfinger said, “I wish things would have went more smoothly this weekend. This is a Championship team that has proven themselves all year long. Howard (Bixman) and the entire crew at Team BCR once again worked into the middle of the night this week to get this car ready. We’re taking this car to Michigan next weekend so we’re definitely going to make a lot of changes before we head back to the track. Without the support of our partners Motor Honey, Casite, Triple K Construction, Wurth, Stanley Industries, RoushYates, Ford Racing, we wouldn’t have had the success this year.”
Wurth USA, Triple K Construction and Grant’s family and friends watched the race from Alabama this week, but hosted a large viewing party at Baumhower’s Restaurant at The Wharf. Grant was able to Skype with the supportive group before and after the race.
“I have to thank everyone for supporting me and watching the race,” says Enfinger. “Rick from Wurth USA put together that viewing party and it goes to show how many people are behind me and Team BCR as we chase down the Championship.”
Howard Bixman, Team Manager and Crew Chief said, “We worked endless hours to get this car ready and it just didn’t work in our favor this week. This is a new car we’ve built for Grant; we’re just missing something. We tried a lot of different things in practice and the race to make the car handle better and we had positive gains, just fell a little short. I’m very proud of this crew for not giving up all weekend. We’ll take the feedback from Pocono and make the changes needed for Michigan, to once again be competitive in the No. 90 Ford Fusion.”
Grant Enfinger will remain the 2014 ARCA Racing Series Points Leader with a 20-point advantage over Mason Mitchell. Team BCR and the No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite – Advance Auto Parts Ford Fusion will head to Michigan Int’l Speedway on Friday, June 13 for the next race on schedule.
