Mini Stock Race Report
Between my granddaughter Lauren and son David, our teams are getting incredible exposure by the racing media, announcers and promoters. Lauren has been driving the wheels off her Honda, not afraid of speed or who she is racing against. Lauren is fearless as she races 3 wide and deep into every turn, just like her uncle David and grandpa…..that would be me.
This past weekend Lauren was thrilling the fans again with her hard charging style that saw her pick up a 7th in her heat race and then a 4th in the semi as she battled the best Mini Stock drivers in Ontario.
Our Quaker State Late Model was not racing this night, one of a few nights scheduled off by the race track. However, we had our Modified with us and put it on display to promote the next OSCAAR Modified show at Sunset Speedway on June 28th and 29th.
The track promoters appreciated having the Lincoln Welders, Direct Energy Mod on display for fans to see.
Race fans of all sizes dropped by our car to get an autograph and see our car up close. We were heading to the Wasaga Grand Prix for Sunday, this was a great opportunity to have our car on display, promote the Modified event on June 28th and 29th at Sunset, our sponsors, the show on Sunday and talk to fans.
Lauren Slams Wall In Feature
Racing hard and trying to gain ground from her 12th starting spot Lauren pushed her Honda to the limit in the 25 lap feature.
With 28 competitors running 3 wide and bunched up like the 401 at rush hour, the speedy Mini Stock class was in full flight when Lauren pan caked the front chute wall coming off turn four.
Lauren then spun going into turn one and was hit on the left front wheel area. She was unhurt but the Honda took a few hard whacks.
Not wanting to quit a pit stop was made for her crew, Don and Gehrig to fix what they could during the yellow flag. Lauren returned to the track but her suspension was damaged too much for her to race hard like she was prior to the accident. She made us all proud because of her hard charging and unwillingness to give up.
