This beautiful hot night brought out many fans for autographs and to meet our team
This weekend was a huge one for our team as far as racing and milestones go. Sitting 3rd in the points standing we wanted to close in on the leaders to give us a chance at winning the points title in our first year in this series. All week we worked on our car to fix a steering issue we had at Barrie Speedway. We finished 2nd in the feature that night, after leading from lap 2 to lap 27. A power steering issue made it hard to turn the car in the final 10 laps, and as a result we were not able to hold onto the lead. We changed a few parts during the week to make it better but our efforts didn’t pay dividends as the power steering took us out of contention early in the evening.
We finished 5th in our heat race and 11th in the feature with a car that was very hard to steer
We were unable to be competitive in our heat races and feature with the steering very stiff. Our crew worked hard, trying to make it better but we were not able to get the car in race mode.
Dustin Jackson and I raced side by side for many laps, and changed places as we battled for 9th and 10th. Near the end of the race my car bound up causing the steering to jam and Dustin, the 14 year old from Sault Ste Marie was able to take advantage and get by. He came over after the races, shook my hand and agreed we had an awesome battle going on. He was a little surprised to hear of our steering issues and congratulated us for doing as good as we did.
This was our 699th consecutive night in a row. Sunday will be the 700 milestone.
