CAMBRIDGE, ON- After a near two-year absence, Pro Late Model standout Shawn Chenoweth will return to the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour for a limited schedule in 2014.
“They just can’t keep us out. We’re coming back”, smiles Chenoweth, “our Pro Late Model program is as good as it’s ever been, and we feel right now is the perfect time to take on a new challenge”
Chenoweth will continue to field a Pro Late Model and Thunder Car through the remaining rounds of the well-received APC Six Pack Series at Delaware Speedway and Flamboro Speedway.
“Our whole team loves the APC Six Pack Series concept, and we wanted to make sure we supported it completely”, explains Chenoweth. “We’ve had a couple of awesome runs in the first two rounds, and we’re fortunate enough to be leading the points with four races left. It would be silly to turn our back on it”
“We still have a full schedule planned for the Thunder Car to close out 2014”, continues Chenoweth. “That car works awesome at Flamboro”
The second-generation competitor has acquired a Jeff Hanley-built chassis, from former OSCAAR part-timer Paul Law, which he intends to debut later this season.
“When we were mulling over the decision to get back into OSCAAR, we knew we wanted a Jeff Hanley chassis”, says Chenoweth. “As far as craftsmanship goes, you can’t beat one. They’re works of art. Beautiful cars. Paul [Law] had one available, and we jumped at the opportunity”
The reigning Flamboro Pro Late Model titlist will return to the tour with full support from his sponsor and confidante Mike Schmidt.
“Shawn can’t stop talking about this Super Late Model endeavor. I haven’t seen him this excited in a long time”, says Schmidt, the leader of London Recreational Racing. “When Shawn sets his mind to something, he has a certain energy to him. It’s infectious”
“The OSCAAR tour is one of the most competitive divisions in the province right now”, continues Schmidt, “and I’m as excited as Shawn is to see where he stacks up against the current crop of talent”
Chenoweth’s newly acquired ride is in the process of receiving a number of minor upgrades, and is slated for an August debut, before embarking on a full tour schedule in 2015.
Shawn Chenoweth’s re-entry into the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour will be made possible thanks to support from London Recreational, Bennett GM, KR Communications, Midas of Orangeville, Castrol Edge, Transaxle Truck Parts, Hitman Hotrods, Wilson Ponds, Graybar, McColl Racing Enterprises, Innerkip Plumbing and Heating, ProWraps and Automotive Truck & Tire.
