July 6, 2014. Joey McColm and Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) began the busy July stretch of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series making their first visit to Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec for round number three this past weekend. As always the team gave an A-plus effort over the weekend however a few mechanical issues hurt their performance.
During the practice sessions the team battled through some mechanical issues and McColm completed as many laps as he could on the 2.113 mile 16 turn circuit. The #25 CBRT Dodge seemed to improve with the adjustments the team made however qualifying proved difficult in the short session and McColm would line up 27th for the 100km race.
As the race began McColm began to move the #25 CBRT Dodge forward in the field and things looked promising. “The car felt much better during the race and I was really making some progress” said McColm. “I just took advantage of any opportunity I saw”.
McColm continued to make progress during the race when adversity would strike again. A mechanical issue in the transmission of the #25 CBRT Dodge would force them to retire from the event. “It’s a shame” said the driver.
“We were making steady progress and I think we were in for a good day and then this, looks like we lost a seal in the transmission. I also have to give a shout out to the crew, The PacMen. These guys worked non-stop all weekend. The had to take apart the drive line after qualifying & rebuild the transmission just so we could race on Sunday, unbelievable job!
The #25 CBRT Dodge team will be back in action on Friday July 11th at Edmonton International Raceway and McColm is excited to be visiting the track. “We’ve fought through some adversity early in the season but now we’re shifting our focus to oval racing and are committed to getting the results we know we are capable of” he stated.
