MIRABEL, QC- Jeff Lapcevich and the Fastline Motorsports team combated a number of issues throughout the Jiffy Lube 100 presented by La Petite Bretonne weekend at Circuit ICAR.
After wrestling with water pump issues immediately upon unloading their Tim Hortons No. 76. Lapcevich and company were confronted with brake failure in time trials, resulting in a 16th place qualifying result.
Lapcevich would be saddled with further mechanical issues on race day, when a fuel pump failure ended his race just 5-laps in to the 60-lap event. The Grimsby, ON veteran would be credited with a 27th place finish.
“I haven’t had a weekend this frustrating in quite some time”, said Lapcevich post-race, feigning a smile.
“As soon as we fixed one problem, two more would spring up”, offered the veteran when asked to describe his weekend-long issues.
“This is all part of the sport. Everyone has weekends like this. No one is exempt from them”, explained Lapcevich. “We’re going to head back to the shop, take this car apart and see if there’s anything else that needs to be replaced, and get our oval car ready for St. Eustache at the end of the month”
Lapcevich’s trying weekend would mark only his second finish outside of the top-10 in his last 9 appearances with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil1.
“We’ve had a great run the last year or so, and that certainly makes races like this a little easier. Plus my son Cayden won his third race of the season last night, so at least one of us got to victory lane this weekend”, said Lapcevich with his trademark grin.
“My guys put in a lot of effort to make sure we’re competitive every time we roll through a set of pit gates, but no amount of strategy can protect you from the type of mechanical issues we had this weekend”
Jeff Lapcevich will return to action with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil1 at Autodrome St. Eustache on July 26th for the ‘NCATS 250’.
Fastline Motorsports is proud to represent Tim Hortons, Castrol, Cathcart Trucking, Troy Cove Marine, EpicRacewear by OnePromo.ca and Springer’s Meats throughout the 2014 season.
