(Joliet, IL – July 21, 2014) In the 11th race of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, Grant Enfinger earns his 10th top-10 finish in the Ansell Activ Armr 150 at Chicagoland Speedway.
“We’re really working hard to improve our intermediate program at Team BCR,” says Enfinger. “We had a strong car in practice, ending up 3rd overall. This track is really difficult to get use to, but I still think we had a decent weekend and we made a lot of positive gains.”
Enfinger qualified the No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite Ford Fusion in 7th for the Ansell Activ Armr 150. Maintaining his top-10 status, a caution flag flew early in the race, giving the team an opportunity to make adjustments early on. Crew Chief, Kelly Kovski brought the Ford in for a track bar and wedge adjustment, fuel and four Hoosier tires. Enfinger had mentioned the car being too loose before entering pit road for changes.
The changes were helpful considering the No. 90 made its way up to 8th in the next few laps after restarting 14th, but there was still room for improvement. Enfinger mentioned over the radio, “We’re still really loose from the center off, but we’re great on entry.” Noting the issues, Team BCR’s crew would bring in the No. 90 Ford Fusion for another chassis adjustment, Sunoco fuel and tires under a caution. This would send the Motor Honey Ford out to 9th for the remaining 45 laps of the race.
Grant came over the radio just after the last pit stop stating, “This is the best adjustment we’ve made all day!” And this was clearly seen when Fairhope, AL’s driver was running faster lap times than the leader, making his way to the 3rd spot.
As the final caution came out on lap 80 for debris, Enfinger mentioned to the team that the car was slowly getting tighter, but they decided to stay out in order to save track position. With the difficulties in handling the car at its best ability, Enfinger settled back into the 7th position to earn his 10th top-10 finish of the year in 11 starts.
“I have to thank this crew, Howard and Paula Bixman and our primary marketing partners, Motor Honey and Franklin Fastener for this race,” says Enfinger. “I thought we had it all figured out after that last pit stop, but the car just continually kept getting tighter. There are still nine more races and plenty of chances to get back into victory lane this year.”
