SHELBURNE, ON- When OSCAAR Super Late Model championship contender Kevin Cornelius returns to Sauble Speedway on July 26th, he’ll be looking to raise cancer awareness and funds for Camp Quality through a partnership with longtime friend Randy Hughes and ‘Kirsten’s Dream’.
“As soon as Randy told me about Kirsten’s Dream, the first thing I asked was ‘How can I help?'”, said Cornelius. “The OSCAAR events bring together some of the best race fans in Ontario, and hopefully we can help them learn all about this amazing cause at Sauble this Saturday”.
Kirsten spent her summers in nearby Kincardine and would have been 16 on July 5th, but lost her second battle with cancer over a year ago.
To help spread the word, Hughes and others will be partaking in the first ever Kirsten’s Dream Scrabble Run on July 26th to raise cancer awareness in Kirsten’s memory.
The Scrabble Run for Kirsten’s Dream takes place from 9:00am to 5:00pm and will feature both a short route locally as well as a long route that will encompass a full day trip to the Bruce Peninsula and back.
“I don’t think there’s anyone that hasn’t been touched by cancer in some way, so it’s an honour to utilize our race team to help raise awareness for Randy and everyone else at Kirsten’s Dream”, added Cornelius.
The entrance fee for the Scrabble Run is $30 with dinner included.
Details can be found at the Scrabble Run for Kirsten’s Dream Facebook page or by contacting Randy directly at 519-386-2230.
