Analyzing The National 250 At Autodrome St-Eustache
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 22, 2014) – The 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 will head to Quebec for the third of four events in the province this year with the National 250 on Saturday at Autodrome St-Eustache. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track:
St-Eustache Setup:
- Quebec’s L.P. Dumoulin brings the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 points lead into this week’s event at Autodrome St-Eustache. He has finished top-five in the three previous oval events this year, including his first circle track win last week at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.
- Jason Hathaway has three wins and four additional podiums in his last 10 oval starts. He won at Quebec’s Autodrome Chaudiere in June.
- Defending series champion Scott Steckly has won three of the five all-time ASE events, and is still looking for his first trip to Victory Lane in 2014.
- Ten of Andrew Ranger’s 19 career victories have been earned in his native Quebec, but he has yet to earn a checkered flag at ASE.
At Autodrome St-Eustache:
History
- Was founded in 1965 as Fury Speedway de Fabreville, and the current configuration has played host various types of racing since 1970. The track was purchased by Alan Labrosse prior to the 2008 race season.
- Facility also includes a one-mile road course and .125-mile drag strip.
- Was a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series member track from 2004-09, and returned to the weekly program for the 2014 season.
- Welcomed the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for four events from 2008-10, and again in 2013.
- Was the only oval in Quebec to play host to a NCATS event prior to 2014.
Notebook
- Scott Steckly won the inaugural NCATS Autodrome St-Eustache event on July 5, 2008.
- The previous five events have produced three different race victors, led by Steckly’s three.
- Each of the five prior races has featured a different polesitter.
- Six drivers have participated in all five events, and four are expected to extend the streak this week.
- A driver has yet to win from the pole, and only one event has run beyond the scheduled 250-lap distance.

Alex Tagliani (No. 18 EpiPen/Dicom Express Dodge)
- Has a win, five poles, six top fives and an additional two top 10s in 20 career NCATS starts. The victory was earned at Edmonton City Centre Airport in 2008.
- Missed the CTMP opener to compete in Indianapolis 500 qualifying, but has an average finish of ninth in the four races since, including a pair of top fives.
- Best finish in eight career oval starts is fifth, recorded last time out at ACMS.
- Finished 24th in his only previous ASE start, which was the series’ inaugural 2008 event.

- The 2014 season is the eighth for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.
- The 2014 schedule features 11 races at 10 different tracks across five provinces.
- J.R. Fitzpatrick opened the campaign with a dominant victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 18. Andrew Ranger set the track record in qualifying.
- Steve Mathews earned his third career pole and Jason Hathaway took the checkered flag for the fourth time in his career on June 15 in the series’ inaugural visit to Autodrome Chaudiere. The race was postponed one day due to rain.
- Ranger swept the weekend at Circuit ICAR with his second straight pole and third win in a row in the event on July 6.
- The western swing began on July 11 with the series’ inaugural visit to Edmonton International Raceway. Alex Tagliani earned his fifth career pole and Ranger took down a second straight victory.
- L.P. Dumoulin closed out the western swing in Victory Lane at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on July 16. Scott Steckly earned the pole.
- Following the National 250, the series will return to Quebec on Aug. 10 for the JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.
